Seborrheic Keratosis

Keratosis is a common lesion seen in dermatology which many name them as “barnacles’ or “warts”. They are benign skin growths that typically occur later in life. They can occur any where on the body except for the palms and soles. SKs are benign and of no medical concern. Many patients get concerned about the color, size, and texture and mistake them for moles. SKs have no potential risk for skin cancer. I typically refer to them as “wisdom spots”.

They can be left alone or treated with cryotherapy, shave removal, electrodessication, or curettage.
